Greetings

It’s a beautiful bright sunny spring day today. Looking forward to opening my windows here in a little bit.

While attending a workshop to learn more about ConvertKit in April I was nudged to start making use of some of the images that don’t become my Daily Echo image.

I selected an image and, using resizing available in Midjourney, I created versions of the image in different aspect ratios. The result is a printable download product with five images and sizes ranging from 6”x8” to 30”x40”. Customers will receive a personal use licence allowing them to use the images as they wish for their own use or to give as gifts.

Today’s image is one from the first release, Radiant Wings: The Path to Awakening which is available now. More are on the way.

I’ll be adding them to one of my websites before long. I’ve got some images I really love just waiting to be used for this project. The next step will be expanding the line of products.

In the category of maybe check the dates before announcing them — last issue I talked about May 5th being my one year anniversary of the Daily Echoes.

I went looking the other day for the first daily image I released. They were called Word of the Day back then. I changed to the Daily Echo earlier this year. Turns out my first daily image was June 14, 2023.

I’m actually happier to have June as my anniversary date. May 14th is the 500th day of publishing daily. I started this run on January 1, 2023 and have no intention of stopping anytime soon.

I am trying to get back to writing more articles in addition to the Echoes. So much to do, limited hours.

Keeping It Real

I’m going to bet if I was to tell you my birth name is not ShadowsPub you’d not be surprised. You’d likely be unsurprised to learn I’m not a cat as shown on my profile picture.

I’m consistent across all the social media sites I’m on. Well, except for Facebook, which is mostly where I stay connected with family, friends and local happenings.

Why the online persona then?

The persona has become my branding as a creative and it provides me with a level of privacy. I choose how much information about myself I release to anyone.

Recently, discussion has come up on the topic of online personas. LinkedIN was the first site I heard this being raised. Some feel that real pictures and names are required and anything else is ‘fake’.

Wonder if they would apply that requirement to Madonna or any other well-known celebrity who uses a persona?

If a person brands themself with a persona and then uses only their own name on one or two sites, doesn’t that defeat the purpose of a persona?

On another site there are some individuals who push for participants to turn their cameras on and if not to change their profile pic to a ‘real picture’.

One in particular is aggressive enough about it to be leaning toward bullying.

Here’s the thing. I could have created a persona which used what appears to be a real name and come up with an image to appear to be a real person.

The people demanding ‘real’ would have been happy. Snug as a bug in a rug in their knowledge of me as a ‘real’ person … the totally fake ‘real’ person.

As ShadowsPub, with my cute kitty profile pic, you know you’re getting a made-up name and picture. That’s keeping it real and private.

Should I get to know you well enough both personally and business wise, I will not surprise you when I reveal my own name. You knew all along I had another name.

So, which exactly is the more authentic?

A made-up name and image to make you feel better? I think there is an incentive when making up a real-looking name and picture to take it further and make up life details too.

Or, an obviously made-up name and limited but real life details? I don’t feel any need to make up details about my life. I do feel the freedom to only share details that preserve my privacy until I choose to share further.

As for the bully who tries to push others into what she thinks is ‘real’. The behaviour says way more about her than me. What she’s telling me is I probably wont want to do business with her.

What do you think? Hit reply and let me know.
